  • Fashion Designing MBA 1st Year

    • Fashion Draping

      To provide participants with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations and examples to enable them to identify the configuration of the female silhouette in relation to the cut of ladies garments. To provide the students with the ability to understand the vocabulary and fundamental rules pertaining to this technique, and to provide the students with the ability to develop muslins on the mannequin or industrial dress form and analyze them. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and an integrated project in order to complete the module.

    • Women’s Wear Drafting

      To provide participants with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations and examples to enable them to identify the morphological components of the human form related to the female cut. To provide the students with the ability to draft master slopers (blocks) for women’s wear. To provide the students with the ability to understand the vocabulary used in relation to the cut of ladies garments, and to provide the students with the ability to develop muslins from the patterns constructed and analyze them on the mannequin. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and an integrated project in order too complete the module.

    • Sewing Applications

      To provide participants with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations and examples  to enable them to identify the various industrial sewingtechniques for men’s and women’s garments. To provide the students with the ability to better operate industrial machines in respect to the safety standards. To provide the students with the ability to understand the vocabulary used in relation to the sewing of men and women’s garments. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and an integrated project in order to complete the module.

    • Colour Theory

      This module is designed to provide the participant with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lecturers, demonstrations and examples  to enable them to identify and apply the basic theories of colour, line and shape, and develop the principals of balances, composition, movement and rhythm. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and integrated projects in order to complete this module

    • Garment & Composition

      To provide the participant with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations and examples to enable them to identify and draw different types of garment components and basic styles. To apply the vocabulary and fundamental laws of composition to the concept of the garment in flat workshop drawing. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and an integrated project in order to complete this module.

    • Advanced Drafting & Draping Techniques

      To provide participants with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises and projects, lectures, demonstrations and examples  to enable them to identify the configuration of the female silhouette in relation to the cut of more complex ladies garments. To provide the students with the ability to draft and drape more complex master slopers (blocks) and to use them to develop interpretations according to the style lines of fashion sketches or photographs for women’s wear. To develop the ability to criticize and to evaluate by submitting each projects in an evaluation secession with the instructor and the class through class presentation. To provide the students with the ability to develop muslins from the patterns constructed and analyze them on the mannequin. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and two integrated projects in order to complete the module.

    • Advanced Sewing Techniques

      To provide participants with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises and projects, lectures, demonstrations and examples to enable them to identify and understand sewing techniques and details for advanced men’s and women’s tailored garments. To provide the students with the ability to practice advanced hand-sewing techniques in tailoring for both men’s and women’s wear. To provide the students with the ability to understand advanced paper patterns and the proper process in the assembling of the tailored garment with all its techniques and requirements. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and two integrated projects in order to complete the module.

    • CAD

      To provide participants with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations and examples to enable them to understand the importance and use of computers in managing the fashion industry, through both theory and practice. Introduce the students to computer operating system and application for data processing and page layout. To provide the students with the ability to understand the vocabulary and language used with the computer in relation to the fashion industry. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and an integrated project in order to complete the module.

    • Fashion Drawing

      To provide the participant with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises and examples, enabling them to identify and adapt the proportions of the human anatomy. To enable the student to identify the vocabulary and fundamental rule pertaining to fashion sketches in relation to figure drawing. To develop a sense of proportion and dimension for fashion based sketches. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and an integrated project in order to complete the module.

    • Fashion Sketching

      This module will offer the knowledge and skills through practical exercises and examples, to enable students to illustrate fabric textures and patterns on the fashion figure in various poses and movements; also to develop a sense of fabric movement, fabric draping and light reflections through the use of appropriate mediums. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and integrated project in order to complete this module.

    • History of Costume

      This module is designed to introduce the student to the development of costume throughout the major historical periods. Provide the students with the ability to understand, identify the main characteristics of textiles, accessories and silhouettes for each period. Define and discuss the major elements and how they influenced change in history, and how they impact on modern society. Students will have to complete projects and an integrated research book in order to complete this module.

    • Textiles

      To provide students with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures and demonstrations. This is to enable them to analyze and identify the origin and nature of textile. This module will enable the student to realize the world of textile is dominated by the two category knits and woven. The students will learn the key constructions of the fundamental knowledge of textiles. The relation between textile and fashion is closely woven together. Class discussions also include the international yarn and textile show held every season.

    • Fashion Merchandising and Marketing

      To provide participants with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations and examples to enable them to understand market segmentation, consumer behavior, the components of the marketing mix, market analysis, marketing strategy development and evaluation. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and commence an integrated project in order to complete the module.

  • Fashion Designing MBA 2nd Year

    • Project Workshop

      To provide the student with the ability to use the knowledge acquired in previous modules in order to realize the various industrial projects that are researched and developed in the module; Design Research and Development. To enable the student to draft, drape and sew prototypes of selected projects for class presentation. To develop a critical sense and ability for synthesis, permitting the student to choose and apply functional working methods to the various industrial projects. Students will have to successfully complete all projects, presentations and final examinations in order to successfully complete the module.

    • Design Research and Development

      To provide the participant with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises and projects, in order to expand and evolve their design vision. Provide the student with the ability to acquire a solid foundation of quantitative and qualitative research in order to develop design briefs, concepts and mood boards. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and integrated projects in order to complete this module.

    • Contemporary Fashion, Styles and Trends

      This module is designed to introduce the students to the development of contemporary fashion beginning with the Middle of the 19th Century. Independent research relating historic dress to today’s fashion. This module introduces the student to styles and trends of the 20th century and the events that added to their origins. Also covered are the social, political, cultural events and style arbiters that have shaped and influenced fashion from the haute couture to ready to wear. Furthermore the student will be introduced to the major fashion capitals and analyze the consumer market and buying habits that affect styles and trends.

    • Fashion Communication

      To provide participants with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations and examples to enable them a thorough examination of public relations with practical application: developing communication plans, preparing press releases and press kits, conducting interviews, producing newsletters, house journals and speeches. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and commence an integrated project in order to complete the module.

    • Mens Wear Workshop

      The aim of this module is to provide the student the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations and examples to enable  them to identify the morphological components of the human form related to the masculine cut. Provide the student with the ability to draft master slopers (blocks) for menswear. Develop the student’s vocabulary in relation to menswear design and to enable the student to formulate a design brief, initiate research and design concepts. Through exploratory and experimental work, the student will develop the ability to conceptualize and produce an integrated final project for this module.

    • Pattern Aided Design, Grading and Costing

      To provide participants with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations and examples to enable them to identify the morphological components of the human form related to the increase or decrease of sizes according to standard measurement charts both manual technique and with the aide of the computer. Provide the students with the ability to understand the vocabulary used in the computer environment in relation to pattern development, marker layout and pattern grading. Provide the students with the ability to develop precise costing of garments. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and assignments in order to complete the module.

    • Academic Research and Communication Skills

      This unit covers key aspects of research and communication studies in academic contexts relevant to students of design and marketing. Students engage in collaborative learning activities throughout the term in order to develop their team work skills. Students learn to locate, understand and critically evaluate information from books, journals, the Internet and primary sources in order to do effective research. Using these sources of information, students then produce an extended piece of analytical writing and give oral presentations to their peers. Skills in doing primary research (i.e. conducting focus groups and surveys), accessing and evaluating information, paraphrasing, using established referencing systems, applying the principles of effective communication and the professional presentation of documents are all covered during the module.

    • Mini Collection Workshop

      The aim of this module is to provide the student with an opportunity to research and design a mini collection using the knowledge acquired in previous modules. At this stage the student will be able to formulate a design brief, initiate research and design concepts. Through exploratory and experimental work, the student will develop; draft, drape and sew prototypes of the collection, while developing a professional sense of work ethics and time management skills in order to realize all facets of final collection work. Students will have to successfully complete all garments of the final collection, as well as fittings and alterations on live models for final presentation.

    • CAD and Portfolio

      To provide participants with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations and examples to enable them to understand the importance and use of computers  in managing the fashion industry, through both theory and practice. Provide the students with the ability to develop and produce computer design work, digital illustrations and technical drawing using the computer software.Enable the students to create a corporate identity which embodies their own brand and design label. Enable the students to create a series or body of work for the final portfolio, using both computer work as well as studio work. Students will have to successfully complete the portfolio with presentation in order to complete this module.

    • Internship

      The Internship module is part of the Advanced Diploma programme. It is compulsory for the students to complete this module  in the course of study. The students are required to work with a fashion or fashion related company in the industry. Students will have to successfully complete a minimum of 3 months and create an internship report in order to complete the module.
